Falkirk Distillery
Family-owned Lowland single malt distillery in Polmont, Falkirk, founded by George Stewart. Became fully operational in 2020 after a decade of planning — delayed by proximity to the Antonine Wall UNESCO World Heritage Site and the Mumrills Roman Fort (a Scheduled Ancient Monument). First whisky auctioned in December 2023; first bottles on general sale January 2024. A small, artisan Lowland operation producing unpeated spirit on a 60-year-old rake-and-plough mash tun.
[!info] Note on founding year Planning permission was granted in 2010 but production did not begin until 2020. Founded year of 2020 reflects when the distillery became operational.

History
George Stewart received planning permission in 2010 for a distillery on Grandsable Road, Polmont. The site's proximity to the Antonine Wall (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and Mumrills Roman Fort created significant planning complexity. The COVID-19 pandemic caused further delays. The distillery became fully operational in 2020. It features vintage equipment including one of the very few remaining rake-and-plough mash tuns (approximately 60 years old) and two Speyside copper pot stills alongside modern fermenters and a Buhler malt intake system. First whisky releases appeared at auction in December 2023, followed by general public sales in January 2024.
